One of the best things about living in Charlotte is having so many destinations within an easy driving distance. We are in the middle between the beach and the mountains, so when planning a wedding you have so many options! When Emily contacted me about getting married at Lake Lure in the North Carolina mountains, it definitely got me excited. I love having the opportunity to photograph new locations I’ve never been to before and Lake Lure has always been on my list to visit! They chose the romantic Rumbling Bald resort as their venue, which is famously known for some scenes in Dirty Dancing. One of the best parts about the resort is that scattered around the hilltops of the community there are mountain homes you can rent. This was great for the families, bridesmaids, and groomsmen to all get ready separately while still on property. We had some looming rain and clouds that kept us on our toes all day, but boy did it provide us with some gorgeous dramatic skies! Emily and Andrew had their first look on a bridge overlooking the mountains, and were able to enjoy seeing each other privately for a moment. They had a stunning view of the lake during their ceremony and then had quite the dance party during the reception. It’s always so fun to see a couple so happy when surrounded by all their family and friends. They definitely had the “time of their life!” (See what I did there…Dirty Dancing pun ;) )
